We made a new friend in 2009 - Veronik Avery's lovely St. Denis Nordique.
This is a great yarn for those of us who want our classic wool sweaters to feel like wool. It is soft with a firm hand and a nice twist which makes for easy knitting. The colours are fantastic and varied to suit every palette. It knits beautifully on 3.5 - 4.0 mm needles. The premier issue of the accompanying magazine is wonderful with the next issue due around mid April. This is a yarn well worth a second look next time you are in the shop.

Old Friends
When I reflect on the year just ended, I am reminded of being reunited with some old friends -the wonderful Filatura di Crosa Zara family. We have 5 members of this family at the shop - worsted weight Zara Plus, DK weight Zara, and the little ones -Principessa, Zarina Print and the tiny Mon Bebe. They are all machine washable, and just about as soft as ... a machine washable merino can be! The colours are wonderful and we are very glad to have them back in the shop.

We are pleased to take the opportunity to wish all our customers a happy new year, and to thank you for your patronage.
Outside my window it is obvious we are having a wintry start to 2010, so it is time to start a new project, or two, and maybe finish an old one as well.
Counting stock for end of year inventory always turns into a bit of a clear out so our sale bins have new things to tempt everyone at great prices.

With Christmas fast approaching, and gift knitting time dwindling, it is time to think about quick gifts which will be well loved by the recipient.
Of course felted hats, mittens, slippers, or a purse are obvious! At the shop we do a lot of felting and are pleased to recommend patterns and yarns which fit the "tried and true" category. Fiber Trends patterns for these all work well and usually we have samples to show you!
Also we have several great yarns which felt well - Lopi, Lett- Lopi, Cascade 220, Patons Classic Wool, Noro Kureyon, Fritid, Tove and others have all been tested by us so we know your project will be a success!
